Bacon Roses

So I wanted a cool valentine for my husband and this is what I came up with.  I saw a picture of bacon roses on skewers, and liked the idea.  However, I was not crazy about the skewers, so I got creative in the produce aisle.
Here are the basic instructions:
Preheat oven to 400.
Roll thick cut bacon into a rose shape - you have to be a little artsy if you don't want it to just look like a rolled up piece of bacon, lol.
Secure with a toothpick.
Line lower layer of a broiler pan with foil.
Place bacon rolls upright on the top layer of broiler pan.
Bake for 20-25 minutes until cooked all the way through.
Allow to cool for a few minutes so you can handle them.
Cut a small hole in the middle of a basil leaf.
Poke top of asparagus spear through hole in basil leaf.
Insert asparagus into center of bacon rose
Voila!  Easy and awesome :-)
